Courtesy of the Georgetown athletic department, here are the game notes for this afternoon’s game as the Friars head to DC to face the #12 ranked Hoya’s in Georgetown’s Big East home opener. Tip off is at 2 PM, with TV coverage on ESPN2. Today’s game marks the 60th meeting all-time between the schools. URI vs. James Madison on tap from Orlando

The University of Rhode Island Rams head to Orlando tonight to face the James Madison Dukes as part of the 2011 UCF Holiday Classic. This is the first ever meeting between the two schools & between the two coaches, and the teams’ seasons so far couldn’t be more opposite. PC-URI highlights from The Post-Game Show

PC fans may want to revisit the highlights of the Friars’ big win over URI – especially after last night’s sobering loss to St. Johns, 91-67, in a game televised by Cox Sports. URI fans now lament the loss of their top two scorers, Nikola Malesevic (out with a broken hand) and Jamaal Wilson (dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.) The season remains young, and hope springs eternal in both camps.

Friars drop Rams 80-61

Few experts were willing to predict the decisive 19 pt margin of victory, but Ed Cooley’s Providence College Friars left no doubt as to which team is the best in the state, in defeating Jim Baron’s Rams 80-61. Bryce Cotton led a balanced attack with 19 points. Bryce Kofane continued his impressive play of late, contributing 10 rebounds.
