Rhody Wins in Dramatic Fashion

Xavier Munford knocked down a contested 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds remaining to lift Rhode Island (7-16, 2-8 Atlantic 10) to a 75-72 victory over Dayton Wednesday, in a game televised by Cox Sports.

The Rams led throughout the second half after taking a 36-35 lead with 18:21 remaining on a Nikola Malesevic layup. Rhody pushed the lead to as many as eight, but Dayton (13-11, 3-7 A-10) rallied back. Guard Kevin Dillard hit a long 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining to tie the score, setting up Munford’s winner.
