      Ocean State Networks (OSN, Cox channels 5 & 1005) will air the 2013 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) first round game between the Bryant University Bulldogs and the University of Richmond Spiders live at 7 pm on March 20. This matchup is being produced locally by Cox Sports; OSN regulars Eric Frede and Vin Parise will handle announcing duties for the game.     The PC Friars will will host Charlotte of the Atlantic 10 on Wednesday at 7:15 pm, in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament. PC is the four seed in its region of the bracket. Charlotte is a formidable opponent. The 49ers finished the season with a 21-11 record. Charlotte placed ninth in the Atlantic 10 Conference with an 8-8 mark.     David Tibbetts is in his third season as head coach of the Warwick girls’ hockey team. He took a program that was struggling to get funds and recruit players and helped them become one of the best in the state. This year, the team moved to division 1 and came in third place overall. Only Mount St. Charles and LaSalle had better seasons.

    The North Smithfield gymnastics team is coached by two women, Melissa Titov and Heather Custa, who are best friends and sisters. They are in their final season as head coaches for the program and they both hope someone will step up to take over the job. If not, the school could lose its gymnastics program which would devastate the athletes.

    Brighton Landroche Captures Individual Cheerleading Title

    Brighton Landroche of West Warwick High School is this year’s individual cheerleading champion. The sophomore beat out 84 other cheerleaders from all over the state to take home the gold.     Mount St. Charles Academy senior Brian Belisle had high expectations coming into this year’s hockey season. But two concussions within a short period of time sidelined the team’s captain for over a month. Belisle missed school and hockey for several weeks as he recovered from a major head injury. Although it was not the ideal season for him, Belisle talks about his decision to take time off and how important that was going into the final stretch of the season.
