URI recruiting success creates high hopes for next year

Cox Sports Recuiting Insider Adam Finkelstein gives us a hopeful forecast for Dan Hurley’s URI Rams next season, with E.C. Matthews and Hasaan Martin as notable recruiting coups for Hurley.

E.C. Matthews is a 6-4, 180 lb. point guard who led his Romulus High School to a 22-3 record while earning All State honors.

“We are incredibly excited to add E.C. to our program,” said URI Coach Dan Hurley. “We expect him to be one of the top freshman guards in the country next year.”

6’7″ Hasaan Martin’s high school coach Rich Buckheit says that his former player is a “Mesmerizing talent. You can’t keep your eyes off him when he’s playing.”

Martin verbally committed to the to URI last September. The multi-talented forward chose Rhode Island over St. Joseph’s and Ed Cooley’s Providence Friars, schools that entered into the recruiting process after the Rams had.
