    South Kingstown’s Erik Murphy 2nd Rhode Islander picked

    Rhode Island native Erik Murphy (South Kingstown) became the 2nd Rhode Islander picked in tonight’s NBA Draft. The 6’10″ big man from Florida follows Providence’s Rick Ledo, becoming one of a very small number of Rhode Islanders to be drafted into the NBA. Murphy, who prepped at St. Mark’s in Massachusetts, reportedly helped his stock in pre-draft camps and will look to bring a strong inside/outside game to the Bulls.     Ledo becomes 1st Rhode Islander drafted since Garrick

    Although he never played a minute at Providence College, Ed Cooley can now say that he has developed an NBA draft pick under his watch. Scoring guard Rick Ledo was picked up by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 13th pick in the second round tonight’s draft, marking the first Rhode Island native drafted since West Warwick’s Tommy Garrick was selected by the Clippers in 1988.     Former Tilton & Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel was once thought to be a lock as the #1 pick in this year’s NBA draft, but he experienced a bit of a slide, waiting by until New Orleans scooped him up with the #6 pick.     Earlier tonight, former St. Andrew’s and Syracuse star point guard Michael Carter-Williams joined a short list of first round NBA Draft picks who played high school ball in Rhode Island when he was picked in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers.     The super moon means super fishing! Inshore striped bass is excellent with several 50 and even 60 pound bass caught on Block Island. Fluke fishing exploded especially in the west passage. Bluefish, best bet Greenwich Bay. Sea bass is good in the deep water and Block Island sound. Scup is good in the Narragansett Bay. Offshore, nice water in Veatch’s Canyon. Shark fishing is on, go get ‘em!
