    Albany eked out a 74-68 win over Brown last night, dropping Brown to 6-3 overall, heading in to exam break.     Cooley: “I’ll cheer for them every game, except when we play them” – PC slips by Brown, 73-69

    In a game televised on OSN, Ed Cooley’s PC Friars basketball team defeated Brown 73-69 Wednesday night. Sophomore Tyler Harris scored a career-high 21 points and shot 6-of-13 from the floor while senior Kadeem Batts had 19 points and 11 rebounds.     Isaiah Robinson and Ian Sistare at Hoop Mountain Camp

    Two highly regarded prep basketball players from this region, are also stars in the classroom. Isaiah Robinson (Salisbury) and Ian Sistare (Northfield Mt. Hermon) are the target of  several colleges and universities known more for their academics than their basketball programs.     Ivy League looking at prospects at Hoop Mountain Camp

    Cox Sports visited Brandeis, where the 8th annual Hoop Mountain Academic All America camp took place last weekend. 150 college coaches from coast to coast were on hand to scout a group of young basketbll talent who also excel in the classroom. We caught up with Stonington’s Jackson Donahue and Northfield Mt. Hermon’s Sam Kroon – both of whom are being recruited by Ivy League basketball programs.

    Brown Basketball Speaks at Cox Luncheon

    With a weekend of victories for all our Division I Men’s Rhode Island hoop teams, there were plenty of smiles at the recent Cox Basketball Luncheon. Host Steve McDonald welcomed Sean McGonagill, Tyler Ponticelli and Matt Sullivan of Brown who spoke about their team’s Ivy League Opener against Yale. The gentlemen were followed by Sheila Dixon, Lindsay Nickel and Caroline King of Brown’s Women’s basketball team who discussed their recent play as well as volunteering they have done.

    Highlights: Rams squeak by Bears

    Rhode Island, now 5-8, held Brown to 30 percent shooting from the floor en route to a 59-47 victory over its in-state rival Friday night.     Friars crush Brown 80-49

    Led by the all around game of Vincent Council, the Providence College Friars crushed the Brown Bears 80-49 victory Monday evening in a game produced & televised by Cox Sports. Council scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half. Council’s partner in the Friar backcourt, Bryce Cotton, added 19 points.
