The Football Foundation Awards Dinner is held annually to recognize the best football players in the state of Rhode Island. Athletes received the Silver Scholar Awards and the Golden Dozen were announced.
In the first annual “Lime out” game, Toll Gate High School and Warwick Veterans High School put aside their rivalry in support of a good cause. Rachel Holt recaps the event and the success the school’s had on the afternoon.
Barrington High School unified basketball captured the division three title with a thrilling 30-29 victory over Chariho. Head coach Brian DeLaire and forward/guard Josh Linakis sit down with Frank Carpano in the first part of the interview. The state championships for unified basketball took place over the weekend at Bishop Hendricken. Host Frank Carpano recaps all the final games from each division.
The Central High School boys’ volleyball season is enjoying a successful season in division two. They are a force to be reckon with and their coach believes all of their accolades are attributed to his three captains. Naroth Chao, Jonathan Rodriguez and Alex Sivilai have been playing together for several years now and are the backbone of the Central High School team.

Mike Vadney, of Toll Gate High School, and Dr. Fred Schweizer, of Warwick Veterans High School, visit Varsity Life to discuss a recent fundraising event. Both schools played a game in honor of the Headstrong foundation which raises money and brings awareness to different types of blood cancer. Nick Karalekas led the state in hits last season for St. Ray’s Academy. This year, he is playing for a new team and has been a spark in the East Providence lineup. Karalekas can hit, steal bases and is a hard worker that his teammates look up to.
