#GAMENIGHT

Cox Sports Brings Live High School Football to Rhode Island

In September of 2012, for the first time ever, Cox Sports will broadcast live high school football games on OSN (Ocean State Networks, Cox channel 5 and 1005) on Friday nights.

The weekly program, titled #GAMENIGHT features interviews, highlights and analysis along with the live action on the field, captured and presented in high definition.

Local sports announcers and radio personalities Scott Cordischi and Mike Wall will provide play-by-play and color commentary. The games will also stream LIVE online on CoxSportsOnline

“We are extremely excited about the addition of live games to Cox Sports’ already robust high school sports coverage,” said John Wolfe, senior vice president and general manager, Cox New England. “There are great games featuring amazing athletes every week in this state, and it is a thrill to be able to share those live with fans, alumni, parents, and supporters of those schools.”

During the winter season, #GAMENIGHT will turn to Friday night basketball  match-ups.

High school sports fans  can also vote for which “Game of the Week” Cox Sports will air on OSN. Fans can vote on CoxSportsOnline.

The games also stream live on CoxSportsOnline, allowing students, parents, and fans to watch their favorite teams from anywhere a high-speed Internet connection is available.

“Although OSN is exclusive to Cox customers in Rhode Island, we wanted to give everyone in the state an opportunity to enjoy Friday night Game Night,” Wolfe said

“Cox Sports on OSN remains the exclusive home for other local favorites, such as Providence and URI basketball, the PawSox, and other high school and NCAA coverage.”

In addition to Game Night, OSN also airs several Cox Sports shows devoted to high school sports. Varsity Life is a weekly program – airing Monday nights at 7:30 – featuring segments and interviews with Rhode Island’s top high school and college athletes.
