    The Providence College softball team (14-23-1, 2-9 BIG EAST) defeated the Rhode Island Rams, 2-1 and 6-2, in a weekday doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16 in Providence, R.I. Senior Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) pitched the complete first game, tallied a season-high 12 strikeouts in the Friar’s first victory and held the Rams to one unearned run off four hits.     Season Ends for Friars in Waco

    The Providence College Friars were defeated by the Baylor Bears, 79-68, in the NIT Quarterfinals in Waco, Texas. The Friars were paced by their veteran players as Bryce Cotton, senior Vincent Council and junior Kadeem Batts all scored 20 or more points in the game.     Friars Top Bryant, 10-9 Men’s Lacrosse

    The Providence College men’s lacrosse team topped Bryant, 10-9, on Tuesday. The win over the Bulldogs snapped the Friars’ three game losing streak. Providence improves to 6-3 while Bryant falls to 1-8. Junior attack Sean Wright notched his seventh hat-trick of the season to propel the Friars to victory.     The Providence College men’s basketball team defeated Robert Morris, 77-68, in the second round of the NIT on Monday, March 25 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. Sophomore LaDontae Henton’s  21 points led all scorers; while junior Bryce Cotton added 20 points. The Friars won the rebound battle, 43-18, to overcome the Colonials 11-for-25 performance from the three point line.     The PC Friars will will host Charlotte of the Atlantic 10 on Wednesday at 7:15 pm, in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament. PC is the four seed in its region of the bracket. Charlotte is a formidable opponent. The 49ers finished the season with a 21-11 record. Charlotte placed ninth in the Atlantic 10 Conference with an 8-8 mark.
